Life is Like a Mirror

“Love is reflected in love. ”  –Mary Baker Eddy

This was a quote I heard throughout my childhood. I never understood the full depth of what it meant before. Now I am finally beginning to see.

From my early training in metaphysics, I realized that the whole world affects each and every part. Somewhere a butterfly beats its wings, and it changes something on the other side of the world. The holistic health practitioner treats the whole body, not just the diseased part.  Now I know that loves extends beyond the body. A loving person attracts love, in return.

Much like a mirror, that which we give out returns to us, like the mirror’s  reflection. If we give out negative energy, negative energy comes back.  If we strive to give out loving energy, the energy of love will come back to us. It may not come back the same day, in the same way, but it will.

I talked to a friend of mine going through a painful divorce from someone she had been married to for many years. The friend had grown up surrounded by love. She was sure that despite the hurt she was going through, she would ultimately be all right. She had never been hurt by anyone before but she was intuitively taking steps in a self-loving direction, like eating good food, getting some support, getting some exercise, and beginning to taking control of her needs as a single person.

That friend remembered that love heals. So she returned to self-love.  It is so important to have love in our lives. Love lies everywhere around us all the time. We sometimes can’t see it. If we close our eyes, and think of something or someone that we love, we can feel love welling up inside of us. Love is an inside job.

Look around and see who most needs our love today. Perhaps it is you. Let’s begin with really loving ourselves today.

About LoveHeals

Some people say I make them laugh. Some people say I inspire them. I'm hoping to connect some of the things I've learned along life's road with some of the people who could use a dose of humor and inspiration.
