Spirituality and Frustration

I Bought a New Electronic Device

Life can be so irritating. I recently spent sixteen hours entangled in electronics and their infinitely challenging compatibility issues.  My lack of ability to decode the quirky nature of any digital device makes me want to hurl the thing against the wall, in this case, a little portable video device called “Bloggie.”  When dealing with errant electronics, I tend to press the same buttons over and over again, urgently pushing them harder and harder while shouting.  I look about as unspiritual as a small child, screaming in the grocery store.  The irony is that I bought the friendly-sounding thing to create a video blog about spirituality, peace, and grace.

Life can be like that, fraught with frustration.  We often feel caught up in a vile cycle caused by irritating external objects, personally designed to thwart us and what we’re trying to achieve.  Doing the same things over and over again probably won’t work and usually leads to greater frustration, which then ripples out to other people.  What’s a person on the spiritual path to do, especially when faced with hugely irritating things that seem beyond our control?

Here are some tips from the spiritual path:

1.  Try a little tenderness.  Be gentle and easy with yourself.  Most new

encounters require a learning curve.

2.  Rest, relax, and step away from the problem.  Fill your mind with something

pleasurable and uplifting.  Go for a walk.  Get back into a good and receptive

3.  Recognize that help is available.  Call a friend, preferably someone who has

a little more experience.   The burdens of life are always easier when you have

4.  Keep believing that it will all work out.  It usually does and then your mind

can be free.  You will have achieved victory.

Conquering that which frustrates us can be one of the most satisfying and uplifting experiences, especially when it’s electronic.

About LoveHeals

Some people say I make them laugh. Some people say I inspire them. I'm hoping to connect some of the things I've learned along life's road with some of the people who could use a dose of humor and inspiration.
